Freelance Visual Merchandiser
We are seeking a creative and experienced Freelance Visual Merchandiser to enhance our brand’s retail presence and optimize product displays. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for aesthetics, a strong understanding of consumer behavior, and the ability to design visually compelling retail environments that drive sales and engage customers. This role will report directly to the Creative Director and have a strong partnership with the Senior Manager, Retail Operations.
The Role:
Design and Implementation: Develop and execute visually appealing merchandising concepts that align with brand identity and marketing strategies consistently and on time.
Display Optimization: Knowledge of displaying products in a way that creates a clear story of the brand and highlights seasonal trends and brand core tenets.
Market Research: Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to inform merchandising decisions and improve sales performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, wholesale, and store teams to ensure cohesive branding, effective merchandising strategies, and effective execution.
Ad hoc projects: Support in partnership with the Events Coordinator in visual execution of events and retailers as needed.
You:
Proven experience in visual merchandising, retail design, or a related field.
Strong portfolio showcasing previous work and successful merchandising projects.
Excellent creative and aesthetic sensibility, with an understanding of design principles and color theory.
Knowledge of current trends in retail and consumer behavior.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) is a plus.
Time Commitment:
This position will be a true freelance position where hours could range from 5-40 hours a week depending on the calendar of events, such as product launches, activations, or store needs.
The expected starting hourly range is $40- $45.
We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
